Como todo rockeiro que se preza Lord é uma referência em tudo: Postura, caráter, técnica, qualidade sonora e virtuosismo, além de um amor quase que incondicional pelo Deep Purple; o qual foi digamos assim o grande amor de sua vida.
Mesmo assim, nada o impedia de lançar discos solos, participar de discos de amigos, ou de sair do Purple, e mesmo na sua saída Roger Glover disse: Não fiquem inventando histórias onde não há, não houve rompimento, não houve desacordo e não há inimizade, John só disse que precisava dar um pouco mais de atenção a própria vida e que na sua idade se daria ao luxo de curtir uma aposentadoria.
Bacana essa colocação, prq sempre vem os fofoqueiros de plantão e aqui quebraram a cara, prq John era tão Lord (nossa que trocadilho esse!!!), que mesmo saindo saiu bem, feliz e deixando amigos e saudades.
Bem, trouxe uma resenha da net, que explica muito bem o que é esse disco,sim era um vinyl e a última capa é do dito cujo depois remasterizado, mas vale ao meu ver "um passar de olhos".
Mais um que veio do "Lujinha da Rock Fly", ré,ré,ô cara de pau esse lobo, credo, mas o que é bom tem de se dividir não?

Dos vários discos solo lançados por Jon Lord, o que mais chamou a atenção, não pela qualidade, já que todos os trabalhos solo de Lord tinham qualidade de sobra, mas pelo fato de contar com uma distribuição mais ampla, o que possibilitou que o álbum fosse lançado em praticamente todo o planeta.
Esse disco é "Before I Forget", de 1982. Nele Lord procurou misturar diversos estilos, indo desde o clássico até o Rock, contando com músicos de primeira linha do Rock britânico, que incluía integrantes do Bad Company (Simon Kiirke, Boz Burrel e Mick Ralphs), Ian Paice, Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake), Cozy Powell, Neil Murray, Simon Phillips, as vocalistas Sam e Vicky Brown e o eterno amigo Tony Ashton (falecido em maio de 2001).Vale lembrar que "Before I Forget" foi gravado durante alguns momentos de folga que Lord encontrava nas constantes turnês com o Whitesnake, do qual, ao lado de Ian Paice, fazia parte naquela época. Durante os seus solos, Jon Lord costumava inserir um trecho da belíssima "Burntwood", um tema instrumental que conta somente com os teclados de Jon e o baixo de Neil Murray.Em 1994, "Before I Forget" voltaria a ser lançado, desta vez pelo selo RPM Records, de propriedade de Simon Robinson, responsável pelo fã-clube inglês do Deep Purple, trazendo algumas faixas adicionais que foram somente editadas em singles, além de algumas inéditas.PRODUÇÃO: Jon Lord

Orions - Volando Alto - 1982
Mais um da série "Presentes do Alberto da Rock Fly".
Como já postei os dois trabalhos iniciais antes da mudança de nome de "Orion's Beethoven" para Orions e da perda de um dos integrantes, posto uma análise bem interessante sobre o trabalho.
Valeu Alberto,mais um belo presente pra mexer com o coração do Omar ,do Aponcho e do Melomano (particularmente gostei muito dos dois e este a segunda música é um blues de machucar mesmo, muito bem feito).
Orion's Beethoven fue una banda de rock sinfónico que grabó solamente dos discos pero tocó entre 1969 y 1981. Cuando tienen lugar algunos cambios en su alineación y se inclinan más hacia el rock dejando de la do el virtuosismo, se rebautizan simplemente Orions.
Con el hit "Toda la noche hasta que salga el sol", el primer disco tuvo una gran difusión, que se incrementó en el B.A.Rock IV, de noviembre de 1982.
A comienzos de 1983 Cacho D'Arias reemplazó a José Luis González, quien había muerto en un accidente automovilístico. El 7 de mayo se presentó en Obras el segundo trabajo discográfico, "Asfalto caliente", que no logró la misma repercusión que el anterior. El recital despedida tuvo lugar también en Obras, el 30 de diciembre de 1983.
Ronán Bar en bajo y voz, Horacio Várbaro en teclados, Cacho Dárias en batería y los guitarristas Alberto Varak y Alejandro Láudano retomaron el proyecto a mediados del 2003, casi veinte años luego de su separación. La reunión fue en el teatro Premier, donde habían debutado en abril del '72
Nota: Fuéron Banda Revelación en "La Falda Rock 1982", multitudinario Festival de Rock realizado en las sierras de la Provincia de Córdoba, República Argentina, organizado por el Señor Mario Luna, además de ser trasmitido en vivo, (echo casi extarordinario para la época en festivales que no fueran de música folclórica argentina), por el medio estatal LW1 Radio Universidad de Córdoba y su composición "Toda la Noche Hasta que Salga el Sol", fué por muchos años himno de los Festivales y/ó Recitales de Rock en Argentina.

John Wetton - Sinister - 2001
John Wetton, quem diria que um dia seria o "pomo da discórdia" de nossa toca, a alcatéia não entende o prq de tanta polêmica já que é um dos maiores ídolos daqui ficando só ao lado de Greg Lake, que pro viejo lobo é insuperável.
Bom, recebi este presente do irmãozinho Alberto da Rock Fly, e com pc na oficina, fica mais difícil postar qqr coisa, os outros que tenho são pra serviço e já estão em carga máxima. Decidi então colocar um release do "BO BO" e postar este disco que muitos amam e outros odeiam, não existe meio termo, nunca vi um disco dele ser tão criticado pra bem e pra mal, com apenas 40 min de som, as críticas vão de horrível a magistral, de AOR à balada dos anos 80, sei lá, pra mim continua sendo JW e a cozinha é de hotel "n"estrelas.

Reviewed by: John "Bo Bo" Bollenberg, February 2001 Looking at John Wetton’s output throughout his career, one has to admit he has never really been a true progressive soul, maybe except for his stints with Mogul Thrash and King Crimson. All of his other involvments to me sound more like an improved version of AOR. So when I see names pop up like Jim Vallance, Jim Peterik, Richard Wagner and Kevin Savigar (keyboard player with Rod Stewart), then what else could you expect but good sounding AOR? I almost had a heart attack when I saw the name of David Cassidy in the liner notes. Surely not the David Cassidy? John Wetton goes Partridge Family?No David Kilminster on this disc, but a selection of friends ranging from Steve Hackett, Robert Fripp and Ian McDonald from the old days, down to IQ’s Martin Orford, Jadis twins Gary Chandler and Steve Christey, Arena’s John Mitchell and Qango partner John Young. Wetton reveals that the Sinister title applies to his left-handedness and that all of the songs are once again purely autobiographical. So we should take his word for it as he begins this album singing “Doing fine now, I’m feeling better, must admit that I was riding for a fall.” And falling he was when I had the pleasure to meet the man the last time around. Having gained once again a fair amount of extra pounds, drinking to an extent where he could no longer remember the words to his own songs, a shadow of the man he used to be. But now he’s back, Sinister as it might be, but as said before, with a truckload of radio friendly rock songs which have more to do with Asia than true prog classics. Just listen to the pumping drums in “Say It Ain’t So” and you’re in the front seat for your AOR ride. Luckily Wetton’s voice sounds the same as say twenty odd years ago and that voice certainly remains one of the best voices in rock next to the great Paul Rodgers. Also “Where Do We Go From Here” is an Asia soundalike if ever I heard one. This song has the word radio written all over it so maybe it’s time GEP released this as a single?One of my favourites on John’s new album certainly has to be the instrumental “E-scape” which has out of this world flute playing (sounding almost like Thijs Van Leer) by the great Ian McDonald augmented with soundscape guitar courtesy of Robert Fripp whilst Wetton adds some subtle keyboards. This is a superb piece of music which would fit perfectly on the Rockenfield-Speer album Hell’s Canyon as this is also very visual music. Including both Dick Wagner and Greg Bisonette means that “Another Twist Of The Knife” is once again powerful AOR like it can only be composed in the hills surrounding Los Angeles. New found love Beate is allowed to add some chorus vocals to “Silently," a majestic song with alongside Martin Orford both Chris and Gary from Jadis in order to make this GEP all around.
The sparse arrangement for “Before Your Eyes” makes this a song which could do well in an unplugged setting. Penned with Qango friend John Young this song also sports some nice flute playing by Martin Orford adding to the fragile texture of the song. For most who heard this album “Second Best” has to be the song which stands out from the rest. Co-written with Sue Shiffrin and David Cassidy with whom he already wrote for Cher and Heart to name but two, this is as autobiographical as you can get! The album closes with “Real World”, a simple acoustic song which sounds more like a tongue-in-cheek jam session between Wetton and Steve Hackett on harmonica. Give them one hour together and they’ll write ten of those. Sadly no bonus tracks on this European version of what is also known as Welcome To Heaven, so with a total playing time of a little over 39 minutes, it's a bit on the short side. All in all a good solid John Wetton album : no step forward but certainly no step back!
