A versão de "THE TREES" é nota 10, é irrepreensível!I would like to personally thank everyone who worked with me on this project for their patience and commitment to excellence. Neil Peart, Geddy Lee & Alex Lifeson for a lifetime of musical genius and the gift of great songs with brilliant performances that will be an inspiration to musicians of all genres for generations to come.
This was a huge undertaking for everyone involved. I initiated the project by sequencing all the parts of all of the songs in an Ensoniq TS-10 sequencer/keyboard. This gave me a good idea of where the arrangements would go musically and it made it a little bit easier to chart the music. I then hyperscribed each of my tracks into Finale via MIDI. This hyperscribed version of the part was then taken by a copyist who applied the appropriate time signatures, key signatures and layout for string players to perform by.
Because we did not use any drums, the arrangements were more percussively written than ordinary orchestral chamber approaches. Guitar parts were primarily covered by 2nd Violins and Violas and performed with this percussive approach. Bass parts were covered by Cellos and in some cases Double Bass. Each arrangement primarily included the following instruments:
4 Violas -- Patricia Tobias, Paul Tobias
4 2nd Violins -- Patricia Tobias, Paul Tobias
2 Cellos -- Todd Mark Rubenstein, Andre Janovich
2 1st Violins -- Paul TobiasDouble Bass was used on all of the tracks except for "Closer To The Heart", "Beneath, Between, Behind" and "Broon's Bane". Double Bass took more of a percussive approach in the arrangements and all were performed by Todd Mark Rubenstein except for Xanadu, which was performed by Thomas Saunders.
Some additional elements were added to "Xanadu" and "The Trees" on Violin by Barry Sines and Dan Furmanik, respectively to sweeten the mixes.
Thank you to the copyists who worked on my charts for this project:
Penn Pennington
Paul Tobias
Mitch Wallace
Criss Cheatham
I am totally grateful to Vitamin Records for their continuing patience concerning the completion of this record. It is long overdue and they have stuck by me all the way. A special thanks to Patricia & Paul Tobias. They are the hands and the spirit that brought this project to life. I would like to dedicate this CD to my beautiful little niece, Stephanie Dunnington, who is 10 years old and following in her uncles' musical footsteps: "May this recording be an inspiration to your continuing pursuit of music through your already brilliant ability to play the violin and may it be an inspiration to others as 'Rush' has been to me."
