"Septober Energy is the only album of the jazz/progressive rock big band Centipede, organized and led by the British free jazz pianist Keith Tippett, that brought together much of a generation of young British jazz and rock musicians in its more than 50 members, e.g. from the bands Soft Machine, King Crimson, Nucleus and Blossom Toes.
Septober Energy, produced by Robert Fripp, was originally released 1971 in the UK as a double LP, 1974 in the U.S.A. with a different cover. A remastered CD release, using the "U.S." cover, was released in 2000.
The album is a four part suite consisting of four tracks of about 20 minutes each. For a detailed review, see ""Centipede ¦ Septober Energy" by John Kelman". Retrieved 2006-01-08.
Septober Energy - Part 4 is based on the instrumental track Green and Orange Night Park that was part of The Keith Tippett Group's 1970 album Dedicated To You, But You Weren't Listening. Another version, titled Septober Energy and including vocals, can be found on the album Bristol concert by Mujician and The Gregorian Ensemble, recorded 1991."Personnel
