Luka Bloom "2 Meter Sessions"

O Luka é do meu karaokê particular. É um desejo vê-lo ao vivo como é ver o Cohen.

Minhas observações pessoais são essas...

LucyAfter a first successful '2 Meter Sessions Theatre Tour' in the Netherlands in 2009, radio host and founder Jan Douwe Kroeske will return with another music-show. On the last tour Belgian star Selah Sue was the artist, this time the Irish singer/songwriter Luka Bloom is Jan's accomplice.

In his own charismatically and charming way of telling stories, presenter Kroeske takes the audience with him into a world of live television and radio recordings with bands and artists from all over the world. After putting out twenty-five years of '2 Meter Sessions' on TV and radio a great archive is available. Every recording has a beautiful story attached to it. And who can tell these best but 'founding father' Jan Douwe Kroeske himself?

The archive is nearing 1500 sessions and the 2 Meter-archive has become a piece of cultural heritage. Still countless anecdotes have not been told and much footage isn't shared yet.
For the second time Kroeske takes the audience on a musical ride through the many classics that his archive holds. The mission of 2 Meter Session - finding new and promising artists during recording - is still valid. From 'young' names such as Alberta Cross and Temper Trap, obviously, the greatest artists the world knows like Aerosmith, James Taylor, Radiohead, Joe Cocker, Foo Fighters, Coldplay and Nirvana.

During the first tour the then unknown Belgian artist Selah Sue performed as musical guest. This time Jan Douwe Kroeske takes the Irish singer-songwriter Luka Bloom into the theatres: An artist who, during his 30 year career, was a 2 Meter Sessions guest many times and still releases beautiful records and tours around the world.

What is or what are 2 Meter Sessions?

The 2 Meter Sessions was founded in 1985 when radio presenter Jan Douwe Kroeske decided to do something different in his radio-show. At the VARA, a Dutch public broadcasting company, he invited bands not just for an interview: but asked them to do a stripped-down presentation of their work.

First 2 Meter Session: With New-Zealanders Crowded House. Ever since, the concept of presenting bands to the listeners has always been solid, valid, and became very popular.. 'JD' has continued to discover music and record with artist until present day
.Born Kevin Barry Moore in County Kildare, Ireland, he decided to change his name in 1987 to Luka Bloom — Luka from the Suzanne Vega song “My name is Luka,” and Bloom from James Joyce’s “Ulysses.”

In 1969, at the age of 14 he went on tour as the support act for his eldest brother, Christy Moore, and by the early 1970s was playing throughout Ireland, Germany and England.

In 1978, he released his first album under his given name Kevin Moore, “Treaty Stone.”

The next year he was forced to change his guitar playing from finger-style to flat-picking due to tendonitis.

Over the next three years he released two more albums, “In Groningen” (1980) and “Remember the Brave Ones” (1982), and spent some time playing with Manus Lunny.

From 1983 to 1986 he fronted the Dublin post-punk-pop band Red Square, then moved in 1987 to the United States, where he began performing as Luka Bloom.

He released “Riverside” in 1990. It features the hits “The Man is Alive” and “Hudson Lady.”

In 1993, he performed with Lou Reed, David Byrne and Rosanne Cash at the Bottom Line in New York City to celebrate the club’s birthday, and then spent the next few years performing throughout Europe and Australia.

In the new millennium he has released “Between the Mountain and the Moon,” the live album “Amsterdam,” “Before Sleep Comes” and “Eleven Songs,” leading to his 2010 recording, “Dreams in America
