Tuatara - Jazz/Rock

Tuatara is a Seattle-based instrumental music group featuring members of R.E.M., The Minus 5, Critters Buggin, The Chills and the Screaming Trees.

The band was formed in 1996 by R.E.M.'s Peter Buck (guitar), Barrett Martin of the Screaming Trees (drums and percussion), Justin Harwood of Luna and The Chills (bass guitar, double bass), and Skerik of Critters Buggin (saxophones). The band was named, at Harwood's suggestion, after a reptile from his native New Zealand.

Originally a project to get musician friends some soundtrack work, the project evolved into an active band, doing occasional live shows, and recording their first album Breaking the Ethers, encompassing a sound influenced by various styles of music, from Lebanese and Asian music to more traditional Western folk music.

The band expanded in 1998, adding guitarist Scott McCaughey on guitar, Steve Berlin on saxophone and flute, Craig Flory on clarinets and saxophones, Elizabeth Pupo-Walker on congas and other percussion, and Mike Stone on drum kit; with Stone now on drums, Barrett Martin focused more on vibes and marimba. This expanded line-up released Trading With the Enemy, which added more exotic instrumentation while sticking to the familiar formula of borrowing from a variety of styles.

The band had eleven members at the time of 2001's Cinemathique, which was intended to fulfill the original desire of creating music for soundtracks. A remix album, The Loading Program, was released in 2003.

McCaughey and Buck are also permanent members of The Minus 5, and Martin has contributed to their performances and recordings as well.

Tuatara released a new double album on August 15, 2014 called Underworld which featured Mike McCready of Pearl Jam.

Freddie King -

King's last Shelter album was his most elaborately produced, with occasional string arrangements and female backups vocals, although these didn't really detract from the net result. Boasting perhaps heavier rock elements than his other Shelter efforts, it was characteristically divided between blues standards (by the likes of Willie Dixon and Elmore James), Leon Russell tunes, and more R&B/soul-inclined material by the likes of Ray Charles and Percy Mayfield. It's been reissued, along with his other Shelter albums, on the King of the Blues anthology.

Liquid Sound Company - Psych Rock

Liquid Sound Company are an American acid-psychedelic rock band, formed in the late 1990s.

Formed by John Perez in 1996, the group originates from Arlington, Texas. Perez has mainly been busy playing heavy doom with bands Solitude Aeturnus and Sorrows Path, adding to the band's lack of stability over the years as a steady, active band. Rockadelic Records released the debut album 'Exploring The Psychedelic' in 1996 where Perez is supported by Teri Pritchard (bass) and drummer Jason Spradlin. The band offers quite diversified songs with a pretty minimalistic sound but also features heavy fuzz guitars, oriental influences and hypnotic elements. They would release another effort in 2002 named 'Inside The Acid Temple' - this time with Moog support by new bass player David Fargason. The album was later re-released in 2005 by German Nasoni label on vinyl.

The group features psychedelic influences from west coast psychedelic to the heavier Hawkwind territory. Noting Dead Flowers and Agitation Free as influencing artists.

Liquid Sound Company seemed to have disbanded, but came back in 2011 with a new album 'Acid Music For Acid People' on Nasoni, made of studio outtakes and two extended live cuts. Liquid Sound Company was signed with Brainticket Records as of 2010.

The band members are, or have been:
John Perez, founder and lead guitarist

Keziah Jones - BLUEFUNK & else

Keziah Jones (born Olufemi Sanyaolu on 10 January 1968) is a Nigerian singer-songwriter and guitarist. He describes his musical style as "Blufunk", which is a fusion between raw blues elements and hard, edgy funk rhythms. Also his Nigerian roots in Yoruba music and soul music can be considered a major influence on his sound.

He is known for his distinctive style of guitar playing, including his percussive right-hand technique which is similar to a bass guitarist's slapping technique.

Olufemi Sanyaolu a.k.a. Keziah Jones is the son of Oshodolamu Sanyaolu; Chief of the Yoruba people and successful industrialist and Abiola Sanyaolu. Born on 10 January 1968, Jones spent his early childhood in a large family in a part of Nigeria in the city of Lagos. From a young age he was being prepared to follow his father's footsteps in the family concern and was expected to have an academic career. Therefore, his father enrolled him in a Public School in London and he left Nigeria at the age of eight to be educated in England.

"I had to find a way out of all that, and music was it!"[citation needed] By the age of 13 he had discovered the old school piano and taught himself how to play and write songs. Three years later he switched to the guitar, increasingly neglecting his studies. After scraping through exams he went against his father's wishes and family tradition even more by skipping school and busking in the streets, clubs and London Underground, constantly avoiding the police.

Jones led a bohemian lifestyle for several years instead of the one envisaged for him. "Lose all time, love your mind, free your soul!" were words from his song Free Your Soul. Moving from London to Paris and back again frequently accompanied only by his guitar, the young Jones acquired a reputation as a talented musician and charismatic performer with a unique "hard funk" style. In 1990, whilst busking in London's Portobello Road, Keziah was discovered by composer and ex-keyboard player for Sailor and Culture Club, Phil Pickett quickly evolving into full-time management of the artist. Pickett signed Jones to a long-term songwriting agreement with Hit & Run Music Publishing ( photo Billboard 1990) who's executive, Dave Massey, had recorded songs by Jones when at Chrysalis Music. Massey continued to be involved in Keziah's career for the next 8 years. After a brief but near disastrous flirtation with Capitol Records in the USA, in 1992, Pickett signed Keziah to Emmanuel de Buretel's Delabel label for his debut album Blufunk Is a Fact. Recording in London with producer Kevin Armstrong, included in the worldwide success of the project was Keziah's first single "Rhythm Is Love". Jones attributes his Parisian subway experiences as highly instrumental to his by now blossoming career in his official biography.[1] By 2008, Jones had recorded eight albums and one DVD. After performing many shows and festivals throughout the world between 2009 and 2012, late in 2012 Keziah Jones was back in Lagos preparing to record his new studio album set for worldwide release on Because Music in 2013

Abigor - Austrian Black Metal Band

The band was formed in 1993 by Peter Kubik and Thomas Tannenberger. After the release of several demos, original vocalist Tharen (Alexander Opitz) left the band and was replaced by Silenius (Michael Gregor), who recorded vocals for all Abigor releases until the recording of Channeling the Quintessence of Satan during which he opted to leave the band. Thurisaz, who had been in the thrash metal band Lost Victim together with T.T. in the 1980s, joined the band and finished recordings on Channeling the Quintessence of Satan. In late 1999, T.T. left the band for various reasons (ranging from personal problems to being fed up with what once was the "scene"). After his departure, Abigor released two more albums before breaking up in 2003.

In April 2006, P.K. and T.T. decided to join forces again. During the following year, Fractal Possession was released. The band was scheduled to release a split EP in 2008 with French black metal group Blacklodge. In connection with this release, Abigor was supposedly cooperating with Norwegian experimental artist Zweizz.

Early works by Abigor were loosely inspired by J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. The album cover on Orkblut - The Retaliation is a collage of 2 paintings originally made by Lord of the Rings fantasy artist Ian Miller.

The album cover on Channeling the Quintessence of Satan was originally by the German printmaker/artist Albrecht Dürer. (The Knight, Death and the Devil, 1514)

Most Abigor releases were released by Napalm Records.

In a 2007 interview, P.K. explained the band's songwriting process:

"T.T. and I are responsible for the music, A.R. will do the lyrics and vocals, that’s how it works. I create riffs and record it, T.T. too, we send us files, create rough song-structures till we’re satisfied with the result of a song/album-“concept” then we start the recordings at T.T.’s Hell-Lab Studio."

Aprendeu sozinho. Embora intuitivo, Abel tinha ouvido absoluto e aprendeu a escrever música, dominava a teoria musical, fazia arranjos e tocava piano.

Abazagorath - Sacraments Of The Final Atrocity

Cited by many as being New Jersey's premier Black Metal outfit, the corpse paint bedecked act was created in Wayne by former NO RESTRAINTS frontman Nyarlathotep (a.k.a. Dave Wagner) in 1995 in union with erstwhile SEDITION drummer Warhead (real name Chris Demydenko), ex-TASTE OF FEAR guitarist Cythrall and second guitarist Morgul (Daryl Kahan). Morgul is an erstwhile member of ASSUCK, Hardcore act CITIZEN'S ARREST, CXA, TASTE OF FEAR, RORSCHACH as well as having drummed for BORN AGAINST.

ABAZAGORATH issued a self-financed three track EP in January 1996 'Channeling The Ethereal Moon' on the Ancient Music imprint, which elicited strong response. However, line-up changes ensued with Morgul making way for Mithras. Warhead, whilst retaining ABAZAGORATH membership, meanwhile opted to found his own side project vehicle WARHEAD, an endeavour which would eventually culminate in the 'Raping Of Angels' album.

ABAZAGORATH pulled in former MEATSHITS and INFESTER drummer Crom (Dario Derna). The same year Morgul, Nyarlathotep and Crom forged a further extracurricular act MEPHITIUM. This venture issued a brace of demos in 'Ritualistic Coprophagia' and 'Satanic Victory'. Not content with putting his energies into both ABAZAGORATH and MEPHITIUM Morgul cemented an allegiance with vocalist Lord Bucon resulting in ORCUS.

ABAZAGORATH's debut album 'Tenebrarum Cadent Exsurgemus', released in March of 1997 by Elegy Records, received unanimously strong reviews. Cythrall was ousted in April 1997, with Crom now taking up guitar duties with new addition Mithras. In 1999 Morgul usurped his replacement Mithras. Crom would have his place taken at the microphone in early 2000 by Von, the erstwhile singer having relocated and forging ahead with his own project KROHM.

The group quickly built up an enviable live reputation having supported the likes of VITAL REMAINS, SUMMON and SUFFOCATION. The ABAZAGORATH triumviarate of Morgul, Nyarlathotep and Crom also operate in EVOKEN guitarist Nick Orlando's side act, the brutal old school Death Metal unit FUNEBRARUM featuring on the Necroharmonic Productions album 'Beneath The Columns Of Abandoned Gods'.

Abada - Berimbau & Viola

Berimbau e Viola

ABC - The Lexicon Of Love II

While on-stage at a show commemorating the 30th anniversary of ABC's undeniably classic album The Lexicon of Love, Martin Fry had an epiphany. Why not make a sequel? Something that captured the sweeping vision of the original, but also added the wisdom of three decades gained by living through the endless ups and downs of love. Working with Anne Dudley, who arranged the strings on the original Lexicon, producer Gary Stevenson, and a few songwriters, Fry did exactly what he set out to do on 2016's The Lexicon of Love II.
The album gets the majestic, cinematic scope of the original down perfectly, with Dudley's epic string arrangements embellished with grand pianos, some fluid fretless bass playing, impassioned backing vocals, and the occasional moment that, if you close your eyes, almost sounds like 1982 -- not only because of the musical backing, but also because Fry's voice is relatively untouched by age. While he can't hit the same falsetto notes that he could 30 years earlier, he does still sing with the same urgency and power that he used to, and that's very impressive. Of course, there are no tracks here as perfect as "The Look of Love" or "Poison Arrow," but there aren't any weak links either, and the album holds together unexpectedly well. And some of the tracks do come pretty close to the heights reached on the original Lexicon, like the swaggering disco-funk workout "Viva Love," the nautically romantic "The Ship of the Seasick Sailor," and the most 1982-like of the lot, "The Flames of Desire." There are even a couple that might have fit in on Beauty Stab (the guitar-heavy "Singer Not the Song") or Zillionaire (the slickly danceable "Confessions of a Fool").
Throughout, Fry's lyrics cast a wryly practiced eye on the travails of being a failed lover, the difficulty of making a living playing music, and the inevitable march of time. It's a melancholy journey, made even sadder by the strings that permeate everything, but it's also inspiring and always stylishly delivered. Fry and his crew of accomplices could have failed miserably trying to re-create the sound of Lexicon exactly, making it a stale nostalgic exercise that would have tarnished the original by association. Instead, they got at what makes it great -- the over the top romanticism, the audacious vocals, and the widescreen melodies -- and gave it a wiser, more thoughtful update. The Lexicon of Love II isn't exactly a return to form, since their 2008 album Traffic is a hidden gem in their catalog, but it does serve as a reminder that Martin Fry and ABC created one of the best albums of the '80s, if not ever, and they still have what it takes to come within shouting distance of those ridiculously lofty heights.
